There are some things that, more than others, require adaptation, one of this is get used to the stay. In my case, I was in a dorm and adapting wasn’t that easy, especially because the residents were from different countries and cultures. Although this shouldn’t be much of a trouble, for what regards cleaning and organisation of spaces, it was quite difficult to find a meeting point between different customs. By the time I had learned to find compromises with others but also to be more assertive. Apart from this, you need to manage some problems that could arise in the apartment itself, for instance the wash-machine that stops working [my case], or the oven that stops working, which may become heavy burdens. The best way to get through this kind of problems is not ignoring them, but to stand for my own opinion and report them to those concerned. Sometimes though [as in my case], it could get complicated or the person who should had taken charge of them is simply too slow. For what regards red tapes related to the Erasmus programme, like opening a bank account, filling the Learning Agreement, finding a stay or simply the right lecture, I highly recommend to ask for help to who’s in charge rather than carrying it all on your shoulders alone. That will make it a lot faster and easier.
I decided to share all these examples, because I’d like to point out that the Erasmus experience is an awesome one also thanks to these issues, in other words, you learn how to handle difficult situations. By facing them you’ll learn how to make big achievements out of them, which will help you in life.

Una delle cose che a volte richiede più spirito di adattamento di altre è quello di abituarsi all’alloggio. Nel mio caso ho vissuto in uno studentato e non è stato particolarmente facile abituarsi, soprattutto perché tutti proveniamo da paesi diversi e da culture diverse e anche se questo non dovrebbe significare molto, per quanto riguarda la pulizia e l’organizzazione degli spazi è stato abbastanza difficile a causa di abitudini diverse . Con il tempo ho imparato a trovare compromessi con gli altri e a far valere la mia opinione. A parte questo, anche gestire le varie problematiche che potrebbero sorgere nell’appartamento stesso, come ad esempio la lavatrice che non funziona(nel mio caso), oppure il forno guasto, possono risultare pesanti. Il modo migliore per affrontare questo tipo di problematiche non è ignorarle, ma farsi valere e segnalarle sempre a chi di dovere, anche se a volte com'è successo a me, potrebbe essere complicato, o impegnare troppo tempo a causa della lentezza di chi dovrebbe occuparsene. Per quanto riguarda la burocrazia riguardante l’Erasmus, come ad esempio aprire un conto in banca, compilare il Learning agreement, cercare alloggio o cercare corsi, consiglio vivamente di farsi aiutare da chi di dovere e di non fare tutto da soli perché così risulterà più facile e più veloce. Ho scelto di portarvi tutti questi esempi per sottolineare che l’Erasmus è un’esperienza meravigliosa anche per questo, ovvero per il fatto di doversela cavare da soli anche nelle situazioni difficili. Affrontandole però diventeranno delle vere e proprie conquiste che renderanno più forti e che serviranno nella vita.
